Why The Pilates Barre?
There are a lot of choices out there- What sets us apart is the way you feel when you’re here.
We are your neighborhood barre. We know your name, probably your dog’s name, and meet you at exactly where you are when it comes to the movement- no expectations. We take lots of pride in our inclusivity and positive atmosphere, but no class comes without a challenge, and probably a swear word or two. We hope to reflect real life: working hard, feeling good, and rolling with whatever life is bringing.
We offer a large variety of class types, all levels, and state of the art Pilates apparatus and equipment. No matter which class, we max out at 10 people, to make sure we got your back. Our intimate, neighborhood feel comes from being truly owner operated. We are fully connected to our community outside of the studio, and it flows right into our doors.
Our high quality, dynamic classes will kick your butt, stretch you out, and reset your body and mind. Our instructors are trained with The Pilates Barre philosophy so you will always get a non-competitive vibe, fun and challenging classes, tons of variety, and great music.
Come have your happy hour with us. See you at the Barre!
Owner & Instructor
Jamie is the owner of The Pilates Barre AZ and has been teaching Pilates since 2006. She has been working in the health and wellness field since 1991 when she started teaching aerobics while serving in the U.S. Air Force. After the birth of her second daughter, she was invited to demo the new reformers at the YMCA where she was teaching. It was love at first sight and she immediately began pursuing her training through Balanced Body University. Prior to discovering Pilates, she spent 13 years teaching Group Fitness for Maricopa Community College, Valley of the Sun YMCA, and the Phoenix Fire Department.
Jamie also holds a Health Science degree and is licensed as a Radiologic Technologist. Her ability to visualize the body from the inside allows her to truly understand how beneficial Pilates is from the inside out.
When Jamie is not teaching Pilates she enjoys being with her family, practicing yoga and being a Pilates student. There are very few Pilates exercises that she does not like but if pushed to choose a favorite, feet in straps always feels amazing!
Jamie wanted a way to blend her knowledge of the human body with her contemporary approach to Pilates. She also wanted to create a friendly, community studio where people would feel welcome, encouraged and look forward to being active. The Pilates Barre AZ was the perfect opportunity to do just that! Jamie and her husband Dave (whom she met while teaching a group fitness class) have 2 daughters and the studio is truly a family business. Her family can often be found in the studio helping out or participating in a class. They live in Moon Valley and are passionate about being part of the community both as business owners and neighbors.
